Heating enquiry guide

Describe your heating system and the outcome you want

A clear description helps start a useful heating conversation. Describe your existing system, what is affected and the outcome you have in mind. These five questions bring the important details into one note for Flowforge.

Work through the five questions

Five questions to answer, one at a time

Work down the ladder and choose the answer that fits best. Each step shows what is useful to say, and your choices build into the note at the end.

If you are unsure of an answer, say so. A plain description is better than a guess.

  • What system do you have?
  • What is affected?
  • What outcome do you want?
  • Who lives there?
  • What paperwork do you have?
01What system do you have?

Describe the kind of heating you have as best you can. If you are not sure of the name, say how the heat reaches the rooms.

  • Radiators, underfloor heating or something else.
  • The fuel or energy source, if you know it.
  • Roughly how old the system is.
02What is affected?

Say which part of the system is involved: the whole property, particular rooms, or one radiator or control.

  • Which rooms or radiators are involved.
  • Whether hot water is affected too.
  • Anything you can see, such as leaks, staining or noise.
03What outcome do you want?

Tell us what you would like to end up with, whether that is a fault looked at, something replaced or a change to what is there.

  • Fix a problem, replace something or add something new.
  • Any room or area you want to change.
  • Any date by which you would like it done.
04Who lives there?

Mention who uses the property, as it can affect access and how the work is arranged.

  • Whether the property is lived in during the day.
  • Whether anyone needs particular consideration.
  • Whether you are the owner, tenant or landlord.
05What paperwork do you have?

List any documents you have for the system. If you have none, that is fine; just say so in your note.

  • Manuals, labels or model details.
  • Previous service or installation records.
  • Photos of the unit, controls and surrounding pipework.

Keep what you already have

Information you may be asked for

Having a few details to hand makes the first reply quicker. None of it is required to send an enquiry, and you can add it later.

  • Make and model of the main unit or controls, if known.
  • Photos of any labels, the controls and the area around them.
  • Previous service or installation paperwork, if you have any.
  • Which rooms or radiators are affected.
  • Whether you rent, own or manage the property.

Use existing paperwork and visible labels; you do not need to arrange new documents to make an enquiry.
